If you are reading this article about a tractor mower, you are either thinking of buying tractor mowing equipment for yourself or you are thinking of hiring a tractor mower company to handle a job for you. Either way this article, brought to you by Keith’s Tractor Mowing, will be helpful for you. We have been in the acreage mowing business for over twenty years, so we feel safe in sharing our expertise with you about tractor mowers.
Buying a tractor mower
You have a decision to make if you are thinking of buying a tractor mower: is the need greater than the cost?
There are all manner of tractor mowers. There are residential tractor mowers which can handle your home’s lawn, and there are tractor mowers which can handle lot mowing and acreage mowing from one acre to hundreds of acres. The cost can vary from a couple thousand dollars to fifty-thousand dollars, so we repeat our question: is the need greater than the cost?
There is no way for us to answer that question for you. At Keith’s Tractor Mowing, we have two main pieces of equipment, a John Deere 4320 for tough, uneven land, and a Toro 5910 for level acreage. The Toro can mow up to seventeen acres in an hour; the John Deere can handle rough terrain with twelve gears and a super-rugged frame and transmission. They are both expensive pieces of equipment, but they are worth every penny to us at Keith’s Tractor Mowing because this is our livelihood.
But is it yours? Sit down and have a long talk with yourself. If you own a farm, and you need one of those pasture mowers, you have to ask yourself if three pasture mowing per year is worth the thousands of dollars in cost and maintenance. The majority of farmers we know will answer NO to that question.
Hiring acreage mowing services
This is the flip side of that coin, hiring acreage mowing services to handle your mowing jobs when you need them done. For most people, that might mean once or twice a year. This may or may not be an intelligent allocation of your funds. Again, only you can answer that.
We are in business at Keith’s Tractor Mowing because most people answer YES to that question. We do HOA services, pipeline mowing, and right of way mowing contracts. We mow for farmers, we mow for oil companies, and we mow for local governments. Mow of our mowing and bush hog services are once or twice per year situations. We charge a reasonable fee based on time allocation, a fee which is infinitely better than the cost of purchasing an expensive piece of equipment.
But again, this is a decision you have to make on your own.
