Cutting Tall Grass with the Proper Equipment

cutting tall grass during grounds maintenance

Those tasked with the job of cutting tall grass quickly become aware of one important truth: without the proper equipment, cutting tall grass is a laborious, highly-annoying, time-consuming job.

We wish we could sugarcoat it, but we can’t.

We are Keith’s Tractor Mowing, serving the Greater Fort Worth area, and cutting tall grass, acreage mowing, lot mowing, and brush mowing services is what we do.  Call us for a consultation and price quote for your mowing needs.

So, let’s talk about the equipment needed for mowing high grass!  Let’s break this down into four categories:

Hardcore approach

We know a guy who used a scythe to mow his acreage.  True story.  He does it for exercise, to get in shape, and he also does it because he thinks it is the least-invasive way to mow for the minimal impact on the environment.

And you know what? He’s correct.  It’s a great way to get in shape and it doesn’t really affect the environment at all.  It does, however, leave a property owner with a very uneven cut, and it requires, literally, a minimum of six hours to “mow” one acre of land.

That guy has our respect, but we simply don’t have that amount of time and we are not that highly-motivated.  If you are, this is the option for you.

Residential mowing equipment

Go purchase a lawn mower at Home Depot, crank it up, and tackle that tall grass. The first thing you will notice is that the first cut, set at the highest cutting level you can set it at, will do an incomplete job. Some of the grass will be pushed down, requiring you to mow it a second time at a lower setting, followed by a third time at an even lower setting.

And after that initial mowing, you will have to sharpen the blades on your mower, because the blades on a residential mower dull quickly, and that dullness is especially noticeable when trying to mow tall grass.

Commercial mowing equipment

This is the Keith’s Tractor Mowing option.  Using a tractor mower, that tall grass of yours will be cut down quickly, evenly, and finish off with a professional look. The only problem with this option, for most homeowners, is that they do not have tractor mowing equipment.  Such equipment is expensive, cost-prohibitive, and takes some training to operate.

A word about Keith’s Tractor Mowing

Which leaves you with hiring a company like Keith’s Tractor Mowing.  We can take care of that tall grass with one cut.  Yes, you’ll pay for it, but after that initial cut, you’ll have it at a level you can maintain by yourself using that residential mower of yours, or even at a level you can maintain using the hardcore, scythe approach.

Give us a call. We will come out to your property, take a look, and give you a quote.  Our two decades plus experience means you are talking to a trusted pro.  Our longevity means you will receive a fair, competitive price.  And our word guarantees you that the job we do will be a job you’ll approve of.
